The Caine mutiny, the Pulitzer prize novel hailed by
critics as "the best sea story" and "the best World
War II novel," has been adapted by the author in a version
which is superior to the novel "in the artfulness of its
craftsmanship"-NY Times Wouk's script skips the
shipboard action sequences and focuses solely on their
outcome: the trial of Lt. Stephen Maryk, a WWII Navy
officer charged with mutiny after he relieved Lt. Com
Queeg of command of he U.S.S. Caine, believing that the
unstable Queeg was endangering the ship by sending it
into a typhoon. |
